- 1/2 kg Chicken
- 4 tbsp Coriander seeds
- 4 tbsp Fennel seeds
- 3-4 Green Chillies
- 1 Onion
- Water as required
- Salt to taste
- 1 Garlic whole bulb
- For Haleem:
- 1/4 cup Oil
- 1 Onion large
- 1/2 kg Boneless chicken
- 4 tbsp Ginger garlic
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 2 tsp Chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- 5 Cloves
- 5 Green cardamoms
- 1 Black Cardamom
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup Whole wheat grains
- 1/4 cup Chana daal
- 2 tbsp Red daal
- 2 tbsp Rice
- 2 tbsp Maash daal
- 2 tbsp Moong daal
- For Biryani:
- 1/4 cup Oil
- 1 Onion
- 3-4 Green Chillies
- 4-5 Cloves
- 4-5 Green cardamoms
- 1/4 tsp Black peppercorns
- 1 Black cardamom
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp Ginger garlic
- 100 gms Yoghurt
- 1/2 kg Rice
- Salt to taste
- 1 Fried onion
- 1 tsp Kewra water
- 1/8 tsp Yellow colour
- For Topping:
- /2" piece Ginger 1
- 3-4 Green chillies
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
Steps to make to make Haleem Biryani
- Soak all the grains overnight.

- Soak rice for few hours.

- Cook together broth ingredients till chicken is tender and liquid is reduced to half.

- Roughly shred the chicken.

- Heat oil in a pan.

- Fry onion till light golden.

- Add in boneless chicken,ginger garlic and all the spices.

- Bhoono it well.

- Cook covered for 10 minutes.

- Add in all the soaked ingredients.

- Strain the broth and discard the spices.


- Heat oil in another pan.

- Add in onion,chillies and all the spices.

- Fry till onion is translucent.

- Add in shredded chicken,salt,ginger garlic and yoghurt.


- Give it a good stir.

- Add in rice and broth.

- Cook till liquid evaporates.

- Add in onion,kewra and colour.

- Cook covered on dum for 10 minutes.

- Cook haleem ingredients till it reaches the medium consistency.

- It should not be too thick and nor too runny.

- Add in all the topping ingredients.

- Dish out biryani in a serving plate.

- Add haleem over biryani.

- Serve straight away.
